HALF MARATHON

COURSE CUTOFF TIMES

  • Half Marathoners have 3 hours and 30 minutes (16:00/mi) to complete the race.
  • After 3:30:00, there will be no traffic control or volunteers on the course.
  • If it looks like you will not make the cutoff time, we will give you a warning first.

(The Parkway Subaru Battleship Half Marathon, 10K, and 5k all start at this same location.)

HALF MARATHON COURSE MAP

COURSE DESCRIPTION

  • The Parkway Subaru Battleship Half Marathon kicks off in historic downtown Wilmington with a stunning view of the Battleship NC on Water Street.
  • Runners head south on Front Street to tackle the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and two additional area bridges.
  • A rubber strip is placed on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge for smoother footing.
  • After conquering the bridges, runners will loop back through downtown, passing enthusiastic spectators.
  • The course then travels around scenic Greenfield Lake via the Greenway trail.
  • Runners finish with a 1.5-mile stretch returning downtown on the same path from Greenfield Lake.

RESTROOMS

  • Port-a-Johns are located on Princess Street between Water and Front Streets (near the Post Race Area).

TRASH

  • Important: Throwing trash on the course (outside of aid stations) is a violation.

COURSE ETIQUETTE

  • Follow the instructions of course volunteers at all times.
  • Headphone use is strongly discouraged to ensure you can hear directions from volunteers.

NO BIKE OR RUN PACING

  • Friends and family are not permitted to bike pace or run pace you unless they are registered participants.
  • Per USATF Rule 144, no unregistered runner may pace a participant.
  • If caught with an unregistered pacer, the runner being paced will be disqualified.

PARTICIPANT RACE SWAG

  • Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K participants receive a race t-shirt (picked up at the Expo or on Race Day).
  • Shirts are only mailed to virtual participants.

AWARDS

  • Finisher Medals: All finishers in the Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K receive a finisher medal.
  • Half Marathon Awards:
    • Top 3 Overall Male/Female (based on Gun Time)
    • Top 3 Masters Male/Female
    • Top 3 in Age Groups Male/Female:
      • 18 & Under, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

PUSH-RIM RACING WHEELCHAIR SPECIFICATIONS

  • Must adhere to International Paralympic Committee specifications.
  • Wheelchair must have at least two large wheels and one small wheel.
  • No device beyond the rear wheels that significantly reduces air resistance (fenders may protrude up to 2 inches).
  • Large wheel diameter (with inflated tire) may not exceed 70 cm; small wheel may not exceed 50 cm.
  • Only one round hand rim allowed per large wheel.
  • No mechanical gears/levers that propel the chair; no hand crank cycles.
  • Chair may be measured before/after the event.

RULES FOR DUO RUNNERS

  • A runner pushing a person with permanent disabilities in a customized racing wheelchair.
  • Duo Start Time: TBD.
  • Both individuals must register and sign waivers.
  • The person with disabilities must remain in the wheelchair for the entire distance.
  • Only the registered pushing runner can propel the chair; no outside assistance.
  • The pusher must remain tethered to the chair.
  • The pushed participant is scored in the “Duo Runner” division; the pusher is scored in their own age division.

PACE GROUPS PROVIDED BY BEAST PACING (HALF MARATHON ONLY)

  • 1:30, 1:40, 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, and 3:30

10K

COURSE CUTOFF TIMES

  • While the official cutoff time specifically applies to Half Marathoners (3:30:00 which is 16:00 per mile), please note that traffic control and course support may end around that time. If you are on the course past that point, volunteers and traffic control may be limited.

10K COURSE MAP

COURSE DESCRIPTION

  • The 10K follows the same initial route as the Half Marathon, starting in downtown Wilmington with scenic views.
  • A rubber strip is placed on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge for smoother footing.
  • After conquering the bridges, runners will loop back through downtown, passing enthusiastic spectators.
  • After passing through downtown, the 10K will turn around about the 5.5 mile marker and return to the finish line.

RESTROOMS

  • Port-a-Johns are located on Princess Street between Water and Front Streets (near the Post Race Area).

TRASH

  • Do not discard trash outside of official aid stations.

COURSE ETIQUETTE

  • Always follow volunteer instructions.
  • Headphone use is discouraged so you can hear important updates and directions.

NO BIKE OR RUN PACING

  • No unregistered friends or family may run or bike alongside you.
  • Per USATF Rule 144, pacing by a non-registered runner results in disqualification.

PARTICIPANT RACE SWAG

  • All 10K racers receive a participant t-shirt at the Expo or on Race Day (not shipped unless virtual).

AWARDS

  • Finisher Medals: All 10K finishers receive a 10K finisher medal.
  • 10K Awards:
    • Top 3 Overall Male/Female (Gun Time)
    • Top 3 Masters Male/Female
    • Top 3 in Age Groups Male/Female:
      • 18 & Under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

5K

COURSE CUTOFF TIMES

  • While no strict cutoff is stated for the 5K, be aware that overall event resources end after 3:30:00 (Half Marathon cutoff). Volunteers and traffic control may be limited after that window.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

  • The 5K stays within downtown Wilmington, running through the heart of town.
  • Enjoy the historic Riverwalk with stunning views of the Cape Fear River and the USS North Carolina.

RESTROOMS

  • Port-a-Johns are located on Princess Street between Water and Front Streets (near the Post Race Area).

TRASH

  • All waste (gel packs, cups, etc.) must be discarded at official aid stations

COURSE ETIQUETTE

  • Listen to course volunteers for guidance and directions.
  • Please limit headphone use so you can hear instructions.

NO BIKE OR RUN PACING

  • No unregistered runner or biker may pace you on the course (USATF Rule 144).
  • Violators may be disqualified.
